Bronze plaque modified and updated

Bronze plaque modified and updated to show a second name in the blank space.

This Bronze plaque was originally produced in the 1960’s and a space was left for updating when the time came.

We were approached in 2019 and asked if we could modify it to include Mrs Shurville’s name.
It was not a straightforward task…

The original plate was quite bespoke with the added fact it was originally designed and made before computers, so the design and font were non-standard and free-flowing.

Also, the plaque was quite distorted and not flat, as well as having a varied thickness to contend with.

You can see our process below which is in numerical order, taking the plaque from its original state and form and scanning it up into the computer by digitizing it so we were able to work on it.

The artwork was created by Safire digitally but was pretty much hand-drawn by us on computer software.

We had to play a bit with spacings due to the sides of the plaque being curved inward.|
After the machining process, it was hand-finished and blended.

With a final finish to make it look older and in keeping with the original.
