cast iron locomotive brake show pin hole re machined

Cast iron locomotive brake shoe pin hole re-machined

These cast iron brake shoes were being fitted to a train in a military base in Southampton. but the castings were not the right size for the pins.
The engineers were only here for two days staying in a local hotel and they looked for a local engineering company to assist with the machining.
We were tasked to machine the 40mm diameter hole out each side so the pin would slide through correctly.
Measuring approximately 500mm wide and 200mm ish thick they were big heavy lumps but we machined them ok on our cnc Milling machine.
Pictured below is the pin stuck in the hole.
