This brass vice jaw was commissioned by Bill Cleyndert a leading bespoke furniture builder. This was to feature in their showpiece craftsman woodwork bench that appears on display in their showrooms.

Beautiful metalworking crafstmanship by safire

Using solid brass metal machined to shape and waterjet cut pyrite tile inlaid into the brass.
Pyrite is “Fools Gold” and tiles as used in this vice jaw are very expensive but stunning to look at and touch.

The brass was machined from a solid brass block

We programmed up the cnc milling machine to create the tool paths required to get the area we needed for the pyrite tile inlay.
You can see the tool path patterns left in the machined surfaces.

Internal corners machined square

In the picture above you can see the sharp internal corners, these were tricky to do as milling cutters are round!
But Safire were able to do it!
